Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Locate and develop sources of supply for materials and interview prospective suppliers
- Determine lead time, current market conditions, price, and technical capabilities
- Analyze quotations and pricing
- Evaluate new supplier performance and information
- Approve requisitions
- Monitor invoicing for variances and suppliers for performance
- Survey supplier facilities
- Research and develop cost reductions
- Perform other duties as required
- Perform other duties as assigned in order to ensure achievement of section, department, or company plan
Skills & Abilities Required
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external contacts
- Ability to create effective memos and letters
- Capable of analyzing quotations, developing budgets, and understanding cost impact
- Ability to comprehend technical and business correspondence
- Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and blueprints
- Strong computer skills and ability to create graphs, spreadsheets, and charts
Minimum Level of Preparation & Training Required
- A High school diploma or equivalent is required
- A Bachelor's degree or related work experience is preferred.
